Why should I support Ovarian Cancer Australia?

Ovarian Cancer Australia is the leading organisation taking action for Australians affected by ovarian cancer. We are committed to saving lives and supporting women through: providing specialised support services for women living with ovarian cancer, facilitating high-impact research to improve outcomes for women, and raising awareness on a national scale to ensure every Australian knows ovarian cancer. Together, we can make a difference.

Why host a Paint the Town Teal event?

Ovarian cancer has the lowest survival rate of any women’s cancer, well below the average for all cancers.
Treatments for this terrible disease have changed little since the 1970s and 75 per cent of women are
diagnosed at an advanced stage, often because they are unaware of the signs and symptoms of the disease.
At Ovarian Cancer Australia, we have a bold vision to reduce the incidence of ovarian cancer and improve the
survival rates. We need your help to achieve this. By hosting a Paint the Town Teal event, not only are you raising funds for Ovarian Cancer Australia but you are raising awareness of the signs and symptoms of the disease.

Why is it called Paint the Town Teal?

Throw an afternoon tea, a long lunch, a golf day or a gala dinner. Anything goes, as long as it’s teal and you’re supporting women living with ovarian cancer and their families.

The bigger, the better. It’s time for ovary-action!

How do I fundraise?

February, you can fundraise for Ovarian Cancer Australia at any time.

People who attended my event would like receipts. How do I organise for these?

People are entitled to a tax deductible receipt if their donation is over $2 and they haven’t received anything in return (e.g. a raffle ticket).

If you have collected cash from your donors and would like to add it to your fundraising page, there are two ways you can do this depending on whether each of your donors would like their donation to show up separately with their names next to each donation on your fundraising page.

Option One:

If they DO want to see their individual donations appear on your page, you’ll need to:

1. Collect the cash from your friends, deposit it into your bank

2. Use your credit card and press the ‘Give Now’ button on your fundraising page

3. Donate each amount they have given you separately, entering that friend’s contact details into the donation form (you will need to use their name and email address if they want to be able to claim their tax deduction with the ATO)

4. Once the amount is processed, each of your friends will receive a receipt for their donation to their email

Option Two:

If it doesn’t matter to your donors whether they appear as individual donors on your page, then you can:

1. Collect the cash from your friends, deposit it into your bank

2. Use your credit card and press the ‘Give Now’ button on your fundraising page

3. Donate the whole amount in one transaction via your credit card

4. Once the amount is processed, you will receive one donation receipt to your email address

Please note: If you choose this option, you may want to add your friends names (with commas in between) into the ‘Nickname’ box on the donation form so that all their names show up next to the bulk amount. This is a nice way of acknowledging that they’ve all supported you as they won’t receive a receipt in their name.

If you would still like to make a cash donation, please contact the Paint the Town Teal Team on 1300 660 334 or via paintthetownteal@ovariancancer.net.au and we will be pleased to assist.

Can I please be sent a receipt book?

In an effort to keep costs down, Ovarian Cancer Australia is unable to provide receipt books. We recommend donating cash gifts through Everyday Hero via this link to capture cash donations and issue individual receipts. Alternatively, our Paint the Town Teal team can email a donation template form to record on the day cash donations. Please contact the team at paintthetownteal@ovariancancer.net.au if you would like to request one.
